📚 Course Questions

How long does it take to complete the course?

Most students complete the course in 3-7 days. However, you set your own schedule. You can complete it in days, weeks, or months—whatever works for you. You have lifetime access to all materials, so there's no pressure to rush.

Do I need to take the course in a specific order?

We recommend following the modules in order since each builds on previous knowledge. However, you can navigate freely if you want to focus on specific topics. The final 50-question exam covers all 10 modules.

What topics are covered in the course?

Our 10 modules cover: Getting Started as a Driver, Traffic Signs & Road Markings, Rules of the Road, Defensive Driving, Sharing the Road, Driving in Different Conditions, Vehicle Maintenance, Impaired & Distracted Driving, Emergency Situations, and DMV Permit Test Prep. All content aligns with the California DMV handbook.

Is the course mobile-friendly?

Yes! Our course works on phones, tablets, and computers. Study on your phone during breaks, or sit down at a computer for longer sessions. Whatever works for you.

Can I download the course materials?

Many materials can be downloaded for offline access. PDFs, study guides, and other resources are available in your student dashboard.

What happens if I fail the final exam?

You can retake the final exam as many times as needed, for free. We include unlimited retakes because we want you to succeed. Each attempt is randomized with different questions.

🚗 DMV & Legal Questions

Is Driver's Ed Online DMV approved?

Yes! Our course is fully approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Your certificate is accepted at all California DMV offices and locations.

Does this course satisfy California's driver's education requirement?

Yes. California law requires a state-approved driver's education course before you can take your learner's permit test. Our course fulfills this requirement completely. After passing our final exam, you receive a certificate to present at the DMV.

When can I take the permit test after finishing the course?

You can take your DMV written knowledge test (permit test) immediately after passing our course and receiving your certificate. Just bring your certificate to your local DMV office.

Do I still need to take behind-the-wheel training?

Yes. California law requires a minimum of 6 hours of professional behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor. Our online course covers the knowledge; professional lessons cover the skills. We offer driving lessons through our sister companies (CIS Driving School and Corona Driving School) or you can use any DMV-approved driving school.

Will this certificate help me get my driver's license faster?

It's not faster, but it's required. Your certificate qualifies you to take your permit test. Once you have your permit and complete the other requirements (6-hour training, 50 hours supervised driving), you're eligible for your driver's license at 16 or older.

Is this course valid for out-of-state students?

This course is specifically for California students and meets California DMV requirements. If you're moving to California or transferring a license, check with your local DMV about specific requirements.
